500 Jobs Coming to Massillon The Ohio Department
of Development (ODOD) has awarded PatentHEALTH LLC a $2.1 million
Job Creation Tax Credit for an expansion that will create 500
new jobs in Massillon, Ohio. The company will be expanding
to the former Republic Steel office building in the city. The
building
will be used as a warehouse and distribution center and
for additional operations of PatentHEALTH and its affiliate, Universal Syndications.
Massillon was competing with communities in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina
and South Carolina for the $5.6 million project, ODOD said. The project includes
investments of $200,000 in land costs; $2.9 million in building costs; $2 million
in machinery and equipment and $500,000 in on-site infrastructure. PatentHEALTH

Congressional Approval of Funding for Department of Defense Projects U.S.
Representative Ralph Regula announced Congressional approval of two defense
projects for Stark County. RTI Alloys, located in Canton,
Ohio, will receive $5.6 million
to develop a pilot scale facility dedicated to the low cost processing of titanium.
The titanium processing industry is of strategic importance to the Department
of Defense as well as for the commercial airline industry. Representative Regula
also announced a $2.0 million award for the Defense Materials and Technology
Center located on the campus of Stark State College of Technology. These funds
will be used to create an industrial based consortium to facilitate research
and development of new technology and products in the metals industry. Please

Airport Traffic Increases in October Almost
130,000 travelers used the Akron-Canton Airport
(CAK) in October, a 13 percent increase
compared
to the same month last year, when nearly 115,000 passengers passed through.
Every airline carrier at Akron-Canton saw an increase in traffic in October,
including
AirTran Airways and Frontier Airlines, with an 8 percent and 20 percent increase
in passengers, respectively. In addition, Delta Connection, United Express,
Northwest Airlines and US Airways Express all recorded double-digit gains.
The Airport also
announced that beginning February 16, 2008, AirTran will resume Saturday
nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale, Florida until April 6th.
