New
Defense Metals Technology Center locates at Stark State College
of Technology – Stark State college of Technology
is the new site of the Defense Metals Technology Center. The
Center is one of the U.S. Department of Defense’s Centers
of Excellence, which deals with military technology that is
regarded as critical to the national defense and security.
Much of the credit for this new location goes to U.S. Representative
Ralph Regula, R-Bethlehem Township¸ who was able to secure
$1 million in funding though the federal budget.
The Center will bring together local metals manufacturers
to explore new metals technology and resultant opportunities
in an effort to meet the needs of the Department of Defense.

Coastal Pet Products Expanding
– The City of Alliance, Ohio
has approved a tax-break for Coastal
Pet Products to construct an additional 10,000
square feel of office space at their present manufacturing/distribution
facility to support the company’s sales and marketing department.
Coastal Pet will be expanding the size of their facility and
plans to hire 20 new full time employees and 5 part time workers.
Coastal Pet currently employs over 540 full-time employees.

Kraft Power To Build New Facility
– The City of Massillon has been successful in working
with Kraft
Power, based in Woburn, Mass., who will be constructing
a new $ 3.3 million 30,000 square foot facility that will
be locating in the NEOCOM Industrial Park. The company specializes
in the distribution and service of power generators, diesel
and gas engines and power transmissions for the natural gas

Housing Sales Rise in Stark
County The National
Association of Realtors reported July 3, 2007 that
pending sales of houses dropped to their lowest in six years,
demonstrating the persistence of
the housing slump across the nation. In Stark County, pending
sales actually rose 17 percent in March, 2007, 11 percent
in April and 9.2 percent in May, 2007 according to figures
